The Riverdale Police Department

Meet the Members of the Riverdale Police Department - Morris County's Finest

thedeptsm.jpg The daily operations of the Police Department are the responsibilities of the Chief of Police. The powers of that position are directly derived through state statutes and local ordinances. His responsibilities encompass the whole of the police function from delegation of responsibilities and assignments, to serving as the final authority in disciplinary matters, to budgeting and departmental policies.

Operations involved in the every day interactions, which are most visible to the public are commonly considered to be the heart of police work. Included are the Detective, Patrol and Traffic Bureaus.

Lieutenant Richard Roemmele is head of the Detective Bureau and Criminal Investigations. He is the TAC Coordinator, Internal Affairs Officer, Firearms Instructor Assistant and is responsible for Uniform Crime reports.

Lieutenant John Peine is Patrol Division Commander, D.A.R.E., K-9, Field Training and O.P.R.A. Officer. Lt. Peine is also truancy officer at Riverdale School.

Sergeant Kevin Smith is the Training Officer, Assistant TAC Officer, Supervising Firearms Instructor and Assistant Terror Liaison Officer.

Sergeant James MacIntosh is the Domestic Violence Officer, Community Service and Field Training Officer. He is also responsible for maintaining the in-car camera system equipment and filing of video tapes.

Sergeant Glenn Danzo is responsible for Monthly Patrol Reports and Cell Block Management.

Sergeant Greg Bogert is in charge of the Traffic Bureau. He is also Radar Instructor, Assistant Educational Training Officer and Terrorism Liaison. He assists Lt. Peine with D.A.R.E.

Sergeant Christopher Biro is the TAC Officer with CJIS Operations and Megan's Law Officer.

In addition to our Lieutenants and Sergeants we have nine patrolmen, two special officers, one school crossing guard, four full-time dispatchers and two K-9 dogs.

All of our officers are trained as First Responders and have certifications with the Automated External Defibrillators for life-threatening emergencies. All patrol cars are equipped with Mobile Data Terminals enabling them to coordinate with headquarters, receive calls and perform motor vehicle enforcement. All of the officers are trained in radar detection and many New Jersey State Certified Alco-Test Operators.

Our Bicycle Patrol is used for patrolling our neighborhoods, parks, traffic enforcement and interacts with the community on a one to one basis.
